About the ArtisT

I’m Kyle Galvin, a Canadian artist living and working in Newfoundland. My work spans graphite, chalk pastel, acrylic, and oil paint - mediums that allow me to explore the quiet power of precision, texture, and emotion. My practice is rooted in a deep appreciation for layered detail and subtle storytelling, whether I’m rendering a pet’s soulful gaze, capturing the contours of a familiar face, or transforming a wall into a mural of memory and meaning.

I hold an Honours Degree in Urban Design from Dalhousie University and have worked for over a decade as a practicing City Planner and Urban Designer. This professional experience has sharpened my eye for spatial relationships, detail, and composition - all of which inform my artistic work. Recently, I’ve chosen to return more fully to my creative roots, dedicating more time to my art practice.

Though I’ve been making art my entire life, my formal training began during an elective semester at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design University, where I honed my technical skills and deepened my approach to visual expression. My journey through studios, sketchbooks, and community projects has shaped a practice that is both disciplined and deeply personal.

I was born in Toronto, raised in Nova Scotia, and lived in Ontario from 2011 until 2022 - when I followed my heart eastward once again, this time to Newfoundland. Here, surrounded by rugged coastlines and ever-shifting skies, I’ve found inspiration in the quiet resilience of place and the intimate moments we often overlook.

I accept commissions year-round, with a special focus on pet portraits. However, I welcome all kinds of creative challenges - whether you're seeking a personal portrait, a custom painting, or a site-specific mural.

Every piece I create is meant to be looked at slowly and lived with fully. I hope my work resonates with something in you, and I’d be honoured to bring your vision to life.
